They Make Me Smile...

Hello lovely people!
When I'm feeling down and really just unenthusiastic about getting up and doing something there are some things that make me smile. So, after reading many a blog post on happiness I feel as though I should share what I love with you!
Louise from Sprinkle Of Glitter's video on being happy really made me think about how lucky I am and to see and respect the positive little things in life.
If we do take time to notice these things they will add up to make a difference on every lovely person's outlook on life.
Things that make me smile :)

1. A little happy thing in a somewhat dour situation:
Maybe known as a "diamond in the rough" it's just nice to hear or see something nice when your feeling uninspired.

2. Uplifting written sentiments:
When it was my birthday and I received my Lush Sweetie Pie bath jelly, I was happy to see the little piece written on the front of it. Lush have a knack for that. Cheering people up. Don't you think? I can't imagine why... ;)

3. Family trips away:
With my family everyone is busy with school, work, and when me and my brother have our football and basketball team's training session everything gets very hectic! It's always great fun when we take trips out or go away for a few days. Next week we're all going to a little cottage by the sea side and I'm really looking forward to it! I put a picture of a VW camper, my family don't actually own one but it's my dad's dream to have one. Also, they just remind me of a holiday!

4. Discovering New Blogs:
This is my blog. I'd love it if you follow if you haven't already! I love when I get a new follower not only because it would benefit me, but also so I can see some of your blogs, which are all extremely brilliant in their own unique way! I always love when I find a new and exciting blog, one that when I see that they've got a new post up I get excited! I hope people feel that way about this blog too.

5. Coal Fires With Christmas Trees:
I have a very distinctive memory of me when I was younger. I was sketching fashion designs in my book while it was snowing outside and our coal fire was burning next to that year's Christmas tree. Every time I think of that memory I feel peaceful and happy! Over the years I've come to the conclusion that it has something to do with the coal fire and the Christmas tree, and of course the fact that I was drawing dresses- still one of my most favourite things to do. To me, those three things together are a recipe for happiness (this is cheesy I know!)

6. Inspiring Song Lyrics:
Pretty Self Explanatory.

7. Good Music!
To build on number 6, just good and happy music makes me and I'm sure makes you happy! I love music with trumpets and saxophones and sort of African style music with drums and Happy voices! Want to know what song always makes me smile?
(Skip to 0:53 in the video for the start of the song!)

Also thought this was too cute to not include!

What makes you smile? x

Five Items I Can't Be Without

Morning dolls
Hope everyones enjoying their summer, where I am it's been raining constantly which is a bit of a bummer. On the bright-side though I can just sit inside and blog for the whole day, I could honestly spend hours on fashion blogs!
I just woke up about an hour ago- terrible I know! I was up late last night watching 'One Day'. Its a great film, a real love story which of course are my favourites! When I did wake up though the sun was shining through my window! After I finish this post I'm going to go for a stroll and take in all the lovely sunshine!

Today I'd thought I'd share with you five of the items that I couldn't be without. I've got a perfume, a nail product, a book, a fashion item and a random item! I hope you enjoy this, maybe some of you could do this too and credit it back to here?

Perfume: Harajuku Lovers LIL' ANGEL

I got this perfume for christmas 2010. It's been finished for quite a while now but I can't bring myself to throw away the bottle! This is in the smaller size but I need to get it in the bigger bottle, it smells amazing! Quite fruity and summery.Nails: W7 Clear Polish

As you know, I like to have a different colour on my nails constantly. To protect them I use this as a top and base coat. It does the job and I like how big the bottle is and the size of the brush. I just got this I think a week ago but it's brilliant!

Book- Noughts & Crosses By Malorie Blackman:

I was given this book last Christmas by a family friend, he has great taste in books! Noughts and Crosses is a book series and this is the first one. I loved it! I'm on the third book now but I don;t have it with me. After I read this book I just took out the next two from my school library. Unfortunately I had to return the 3rd one before the holidays started. I'll have to go back to it when school starts back or I could just buy it! I really recommend the series though.

Fashion: My purple dm's

This is a bad shot of them I know! It makes my feet look massive, well they sort of are. I'm a shoe size 8! I love my docs so much, by far the comfiest shoes ever and they go with most of my clothes even though they're bright purple. I wear these amazing shoes at least twice a week and now I can't imagine my wardrobe without them! I think they are worth the money because you get so much wear out of them. Best shoes I've ever owned!

Random: My iPod Nano

This is the random item but I just had to include it. Music means the world to me and I couldn't not have it in my life! I used to have an iPod touch as it could hold a lot more music. Then I lost it at school so now I use my old nano which is fine, it just doesn't hold us many albums. I listen to this every day whether it's through the earphones or in a docking station. I couldn't live without this!

Hope you enjoyed this! I'd love it if some of you did this as long as you credit it back to this. What items can you not be without?

OOTD The new denim shirt

Howdy y'all!

I'm stuck on post ideas at the moment so until I have some stroke of genius I'm posting OOTDs. I do think these can be quite interesting as they give you an insight to my personal style and you may see a few pieces that you like and maybe get inspired! I personally love looking at OOTD posts, I hope you enjoy this.

I've been searching for a nice oversized denim shirt for what feels like ages and last Sunday I was delighted to find the perfect one for me in a little vintage shop that I'd never heard of before! I'm in love with it! It was one of the nice things to come out of Sunday as it was really sad that Andy didn't win Wimbledon, who else got a wee bit teary when he started crying? There's always next year Andy!
Hope all you lovelies are well. x

DIY: Lip Scrub

Welcome back!

Today I'm going to talk about lip care. A lot of people tend to forget that our lips are very important and  need as much attention as the rest of our face and body, keeping lips in good condition really isn't hard at all and it makes you feel much better and more confident if you have nice soft lips!

One really easy, cheap way to keep your lips looking soft is to use a lip scrub, they're really easy to make, this is how you can make one.:

What you will need: You only need two ingredients for this!

Sugar- any kind is fine as long as it's granulated.

Honey- well, you can use other things like Maple Syrup or Strawberries but just be creative, I like it to taste nice!

A little cup to mix it up in
A teaspoon

Method:

1: I actually don't have honey in my house so I'm using Maple Syrup. First you need to add a little bit of sugar to the cup with a suitable amount of syrup. How much you want to make will depend on how much sugar and honey you put in.

2: Now you just have to mix the ingredients together! mix, mix, mix...
Voila! You've made an effective and tasty lip scrub, here's how to apply it...

Application:

Firstly make sure that your lips have nothing else on them like lipstick or lipgloss. Just wipe previous lip products off with a tissue.

Get a tiny bit of the lip-scrub on your finger and rub it into your lips. Do this for as long as you think is needed.

After you've applied and rubbed your lip scrub in you just have to wipe it off with a tissue and to finish apply your favourite lip balm. Now you have lovely soft lips!

Let me know of any other DIY's that you'd like me to do. x

OOTD- Summer Pastels

So today I have an OOTD for you. I really liked this outfit and I wanted to show it. It features one item that I bought with birthday money in the sales last Sunday. Let me know if you want a haul of the rest of the items as I'm unsure if I should do one!

Dress- Johnnieb @Boden //  Cardi- New Look Sale // Socks- Topshop // Headscarf- Topshop // Plimmies- Jack Wills // Nails- BarryM Berry Ice-Cream

I was unsure of what to call this outfit. At first I called it Spring Colour Blocking but I wouldn't say this is what the outfit really is. It features a range pastel colours which some would say are more for Spring. These colours though I feel are more Summery with the greens and yellows and it really made me feel summery! I hope you liked it!

I bought the lemon cardigan on Sunday in the New look sale for £6 which I thought was good, I bought it to go with 2 other dresses I have but I think it will go with lots more. I haven't been wearing headscarfs a lot recently and I thought as the outfit was quite simple the headscarf would add something to it. If you have the eyes of an eagle you could probably tell that the print is actually Mr Men! My mum bought me it from Topshop a while ago I really like how fun it is! On my feet are some green JW plimsoles.Yes, I did buy another pair! They're just so darn comfy! I really reccomend these shoes.

I hope you like this OOTD and let me know if you want a haul! x
